Cats Beat Bucs 14-5
 
The West Genesee Wildcats finished their regular season at home Tuesday night against the Oswego Buccaneers. The Cats finished the regular season undefeated with a 17 - 0 record by virtue of a 14-5 victory. The win continues their 26 game win streak and usherd in coach Mike Messere's 30 senior class. The 19 seniors who played their final home game were Marc Cizenski, Brian Griffin,David Osier,Andrew Vecchio,Mark Cometti,Jeff Ryan,Steve Prosonic,PJ. Montondo,Tim Spillett,Tim Griffin,Andrew Sidnam,Chris Knapp,Kevin Joy,Matt Pompo,Tom Collins,Sean Leahy,Jon Keuchler,Jeff Cleland and Dan McKeon.

West Genesee started slowly taking nearly eight minutes before opening the scoring at 3:04. Senior attackmates Jeff Ryan and David Osier combined with Ryan turning an Osier pass into a left handed goal for a 1-0 lead. Osier netted the second off a broken play at 2:35 intercepting a pass and went one on one with goalie Balen Stoker stuffing the shot by making it 2-0. Ryan then made it 3-0 adding his second of the quarter taking a pass from senior attackman Tim Spillett while wide open to Stoker's left with just 1:26 to go. The Cats woke up from their lethargic beginning exploding in the second for eight unanswered goals. Goal number 4 came at 11:19 from the stick of Ryan netting his third of the game, second straight by converting a Spilllet pass after a great clearing run started by senior defense man Steve Prosonic.

The Genny defense also began the next wave with senior defender Sean Leahy carrying the ball down the right side of the field, finding Osier alone in front and blasting a right hander into the cage for a 5-0 lead with 10:53 left to go. At 8:39 it was Ryan and Osier as Ryan scooped up a turnover at midfield passed to  Osier who turned it into his second in a row and third of the game and a 6-0 lead. Osier and Ryan continued to make it a two man game as this time it was Ryan netting his fourth with an Osier helper with 7:20 left and a 7-0 advantage.

Spillett got into the act just 10 seconds later as Osier continued to find his teammates setting up Spillett for an 8-0 game. Goal number 9-0 came once again by way of the Cat defense as Leahy began the break finding Osier who hit Freshman Ryan Barber for his first of the game. With 4:29 left in the half senior middie Mark Cometti began the continuous game clock as Genny notched a 10-0 lead. Spillett finally closed out the half turning Osiers fourth assist of the quarter into a 11-0 shellacking.

The third quarter began with defensive clearing mastery as junior defender Jaren Woeppel found Leahy who got the ball to Osier who let rip with a left hander through traffic and the Cats were back in it 12-0. Osier continued his passing wizardry with his fifth assist of the game helping Ryan net his fifth of the game and it was lucky 13-0. Genny's final goal of the games his sixth came from Ryan with 4:47 to go as he picked up a loose ball after a scramble and went in alone for the Cats final goal of the game 14-0.

The Cats emptied their bench in the final quarter and the Bucs took advantage scoring four of their five goals but it was to late as the Cats ended their regular season undefeated..
