Cats Put Away Bees 9 -1

It's often thought that a team can't defeat the same opponent three times in the same season, however that was not the case Wednesday Night a Cicero - North Syracuse High School as the West Genesee Wildcats defeated the Baldwinsville Bees 9-1 in the Section III semifinals. In three contests this year the Cats outscored the Bees 40-8 as they captured their 27th straight contest.

Genny scored the only goal 1-0 of the first quarter at 9:10  when senior attackman Tim Spillett took a pass over the Baldwinsville net from senior attckmate Ryan Ward.
Baldwinsville won the ensuing face-off and pushed the ball behind that Genny goal and held it for nearly five minutes. The idea was to catch the Cats sleeping, miss a pick or cut and give the Bees a chance to score, but the Wildcat defense had other ideas. Seniors Steve Prosonic, Sean Leahyand Marc Cizenski along with juniors Jaren Woeppel and Ben Watkins thwarted each B'ville move to the goal.

Baldwinsville took their turn opening the second quarter with their lone goal of the game as Jeremy Boltus knotted the game at 11:05 1-1. Spillet put the Cats back in the lead with 2-1 with 9:43 left to go in the half when he took a pass from senior midfielder Andrew Vecchio and put the shot in a wide open left side of the goal.
Senior Cat middie Tim Griffin ended the first half scoring 3-1 with just 51 seconds to go with a unassisted goal that began with a great solo clearing effort by Woeppel.

Genny increased their lead to 4-1 in the third with 6:15 to go as the Bee's served a 30 second offside penalty. It was Spillett with a right handed rope with an assist to sophomore attackman Ryan Barber. The Cats capped their run with three  goals in the last two minutes to space their lead to 7-1.

Vecchio added his first off the game with an assist to Ryan his second of the game.
Brian Griffin then got his first as he cut down the slot to the crease and snagged a pass from Spillett who was behind the cage. Baldwinsville found themselves a mandown again with just 16 seconds left and the Cats made them pay as Barber found took a pass from Spillett and fired a rope with just two seconds left to play in the quarter.

Genny continued the onslaught at 8:51 as Ryan found the twine with a third assist in the game from Spillett for an 8-1 lead.
