Cats Too Much for 'Pool

The West Genesee Wildcats captured their fourth win
2-0 (4-0) of the season last evening at West Genesee
stadium 11-2 over the visiting Liverpool Warriors
Genny netted the first four goals in the game and never
looked back, getting their first with 7:28 to go as
senior attackman Tim Fetterly converted an assist from
junior attackmate Jordan Rogers for a 1-0 lead. With
6:55 left to go junior midfielder Connor Regin made
a nice run into the Liverpool box flipped a pass to
Fetterly who found junior attackman Ike Hopper wide
open to make it 2-0. Senior midfielder Luke Cometti
made it 3-0 with 5:47 to go with a left handed rip
just under the crossbar. Less than a minute later junior
middie Ryan McConell bounced a left hander into the
net to make it 4-0. Liverpool did manage their lone
goal of the quarter as the Genny defense fell asleep
allowing sophomore attackman Matt Dimarco to score
4-1 as the horn sounded ending the quarter.
The second quarter began with the Cats taking advantage
of Pools over agressivness when Fetterly netted his
second on the man-up with a right handed rip, with
an assist to Cometti and a 5-1 lead with 7:45 to go.
Liverpool answered back 5-2 at 4:18 with a goal by
junior midfielder Derek Thomas with an assist to sophomore
midfielder Tanner Krauzer. The half ended with Hopper
returning the favor for the Cats 6-2 with his second
of the night with 1:56 in the half with Rogers getting
his second assist of the game.
The Cats broke it open in the third with four unanswered
goals to put the game away.
Fetterly started the run with his second 7-2 at 8:08
with an assist to Cometti
Senior midfielder Dan Stapleton made it 8-2 with 7:15
to go using a nice solo move, splitting two defenders
and putting a shot off the carpet and in. Sophomore
midfielder Cali-John Glesner made it 9-2 at 4:21with
an assist to Fetterly. The prettiest goal of the night
came with 2:06 left in the quarter, when Hopper found
Fetterly cutting down the slot, and fired from behind
the net over the crossbar to a diving Fetterly who
one-timed it home 10-2.
The fourth quarters lone goals was scored unassisted
by the Cats senior midfielder Owen Alberts with 1:36
left in the game sealing Genny’s 11-2 victory. |
